Lately I’ve been learning a bit about different designers, so I thought it might be fun to assign a designer or designer label for each body type! This is also somewhat inspired by the TikTok trend of ‘what people would wear to the front rows of designer shows’, in which TikTokers with an interest in fashion curate outfits that represent the vibe of different designer labels.
Hopefully this post will give you some new ideas for outfits for your body type, or give you a source of new inspiration!
Romantic as…
Rodarte! With soft fabrics, intricate details, and sheer and shiny materials, Rodarte is a great source of inspiration for Romantics.
Theatrical Romantic as…
Betsey Johnson! With feminine and interesting designs, Betsey Johnson has some pieces that would look great on a Theatrical Romantic.
Dramatic as…
Yves Saint Laurent! With lots of sleek shapes, sharp outlines, and long lines of color, the YSL brand offers some great inspiration for Dramatics.
Soft Dramatic as…
Thierry Mugler! Some Thierry Mugler pieces really capture that glamorous essence of Soft Dramatics.
Classic as…
Burberry! I have to admit, it was kind of difficult for me to find a designer for the Classic vibe, but in the end I feel like Burberry has some very timeless and classy pieces.
Soft Classic as…
Dior! Christian Dior was the designer behind the ‘New Look’ silhouette of the 50s, so of course I had to include Dior in this list. With soft fabrics and a timeless silhouette, Dior fits the Soft Classic look perfectly.
Dramatic Classic as…
Marc Jacobs! Another one that I had difficulty with, but I thought that these recent Marc Jacobs pieces have that Dramatic Classic vibe.
Natural as…
Maison Margiela! With some unconstructed and loose shapes, I feel like these Maison Margiela looks serve as some Natural inspiration!
Soft Natural as…
Valentino! With some looser shapes and soft, sheer fabrics, these Valentino looks would be great for Soft Naturals.
Flamboyant Natural as…
Stella McCartney! With loose and unconstructed shapes, paired with long lines, Stella McCartney pieces can serve as inspiration for Flamboyant Naturals.
Gamine as…
Mary Quant! As the designer behind miniskirts and hotpants, Mary Quant was a huge influence on the mod looks of the 60s, a look which Gamines look amazing in.
Soft Gamine as…
Miu Miu! With lots of contrasted collars, soft and small shapes, and short lines, Miu Miu offers some cute and edgy ideas for Soft Gamines.
Flamboyant Gamine as…
Chanel! Coco Chanel herself was a Flamboyant Gamine, and the Chanel label has many pieces that would look great on a Flamboyant Gamine.
